Kim Shapiro is an innovative and accomplished healthcare professional with over two decades of experience in nursing and advanced practice. A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a passion for cardiology and structural heart care, Kim combines clinical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice and education.

Kim’s academic achievements are impressive, having earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice and Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing, both with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She also holds a Bachelor’s and Associate's Degree in Nursing, bringing a strong foundation to her advanced practice work.

As a Structural Heart APRN at DuPage Medical Group, Kim specializes in managing patients undergoing complex procedures, such as TAVR and MitraClip, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her prior roles have seen her coordinate Electrophysiology programs, implement protocols to manage atrial fibrillation, and lead initiatives to streamline care for patients with cardiac implanted devices (CIEDs).

Kim’s contributions extend beyond patient care into research, education, and consulting. She has served on advisory boards for Boston Scientific and the American Heart Association, shaping best practices for atrial fibrillation management and Watchman procedures. Her doctoral project improved follow-up compliance for patients with CIEDs, achieving a 100% follow-up rate within 12 weeks.
