What is Surgical Clearance?
While undergoing surgery can be stressful, any patient with prior cardiovascular disease, elevated cardiac risk, or abnormal preoperative tests, such as ECG, faces the additional challenge of obtaining cardiovascular assessment prior to surgery in a timely fashion. The process can be lengthy and may result in delaying the surgery.
We at CCI recognize the stress and inconvenience this can cause patients. To enhance your experience, we now offer a streamlined Preoperative Assessment Clinic.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an appointment or a referral for the surgical clearance visit?
Calling for a same-day appointment and completing our online check-in prior to the visit is advised and will expedite your visit. Some insurance plans may require a referral from your primary physician.
How can I prepare for the visit?
Please do not drink coffee, tea, or caffeinated drinks for at least 12 hours prior to the visit. Please dress in loose, comfortable clothes and walking or running shoes, in case you require additional testing.
What should I bring with me to my pre-surgery visit?
Please bring your insurance card, a list of your current medications (including medication bottles), any relevant medical records, and information about your primary care and surgical providers.
What can I expect during the visit?
After checking in, you will be promptly escorted to a room by our team member. We will obtain vital signs, record an EKG, and ask initial questions. You will be evaluated and treated by our highly trained advanced practice providers as well as one of our cardiologists.
We may advise specialized testing such as blood tests, ultrasound, rhythm monitor, CT scan, or stress test as needed. Almost all testing can be completed in our offices on the same day. Depending on the results, we may advise medications or treatments. By providing timely diagnosis and recommendations to your primary care provider and surgery team, we aim to reduce disruption in your scheduled surgery and manage your cardiovascular health during the surgery and in the postoperative period. We will share the results of our assessments and diagnostic testing as well as the treatment plan with your primary care provider and medical team.
How much will a visit cost?
The cost will depend on your insurance coverage and the services provided. For a self-pay patient, we will work with you to create a cost-effective diagnosis and treatment plan.
