Peripheral Artery Disease: is caused by the buildup of plaque in the arteries that can constrict the flow of blood to the extremities. Patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease often have pain or heaviness in the legs when walking, Infections in the leg, or non-healing ulcers or wounds. Patients often have a history of smoking, diabetes, heart attacks, coronary artery disease, stroke and high cholesterol.
Vein Disease
Vein Disease, also known as chronic venous insufficiency, is caused by malfunctioning valves within the vein that can lead to a backflow and pooling of blood in the lower leg. Risk factors for vein disease include occupations with prolonged standing, previous injury or blood clots in legs, multiple pregnancies, obesity, and family history. This condition can occur at any age.
